A message from Ruth Gould, DaDa's Chief Executive Officer

It has been busy since our last newsletter; last Saturday 23 young people performed 'The Road we Dream On' at Tate Liverpool to a packed audience as part of DaDaLive. It was devised by them and spoke of journeys both imaginary and real. With projections, dance, song and drama they created a captivating piece to be proud of. We will post the finished film on our website in the next few weeks and recruitment has now started for year 2 of the project (see below).

DaDa was shortlisted for the TMP awards in the Tourism Event of the Year category and the glittering ceremony took place last Thursday. Unfortunately we did not win but it is a positive step to be selected for the shortlist. It was a really tough category to win with some big competition. We know that the uniqueness of our work and the fact that the DaDaFest audience jumped from 11,000 to over 65,000 last year has been recognised, but there is still far to go in creating opportunities for people to experience a different impression of what it means to be a disabled or deaf person. I am passionate about getting publicity not only for our work, but for Disability Arts to be recognised and appreciated in wider circles. We will keep on doing what we can to push the boundaries of stereotypes, to devise and promote our work as best we can and we have some exciting plans for 2012!
